Adjustable Summer Hat (Light)

The ManyMonths Summer Hat protects the child's delicate skin from harmful rays of the sun – and it looks great too!

In the design we’ve taken into account that not only the head, but also the forehead, ears and neck need protection, and thus the ManyMonths hat has a much larger brim than other common summer hats. Our summer hats have many familiar ManyMonths features allowing for many months, even years of use:

 

• Head circumference is adjustable for a perfect fit

• Can be tied under the chin (the two smaller sizes)

• The brims have good-looking, very durable bindings

• Every hat has a beautiful coconut button in front, which enables the front brim to be lifted up when needed (for ex. while eating)

• Combo-sizes allow for an even longer time of use. The smallest size fits a baby just a few weeks of age and  the biggest size is even suitable for many mums.

If your child feels the hat to be tight, please remove the adjustable elastic. The hat will soften and expand somewhat in use. Liquid detergent is recommended.

 

Choose the size according to head circumference

ATTN: If your child has thick hair, prefers a looser fit, or has a head circumference close to the maximum, rather choose the next size. Please note that the brim width also gets bigger.

The hat will soften and expand somewhat in use. If your child feels the hat to be tight, please remove the adjustable elastic. Use gentle wash with liquid detergent without bleaching agents. When planning to wear the hat in a chlorinated pool or salty ocean water we recommend the Natural colour.

Material: 55% hemp/45% organic cotton

The color of undyed, natural hemp depends on where it has grown as it retains the color of the fibre. Every batch of fabric will have a somewhat different shade. It can be lighter or darker - from almost white to yellowish, light beige or slightly greyish.

What's the difference between the ManyMonths ECO Hempies Original and Light Summer Hats?

Both the ManyMonths ECO Hempies Original and Light Hats are made of hemp

55%/organic cotton 45%, a linen-like fabric. The Original Hats are somewhat thicker and made of a durable twill fabric. The Light Hats are thinner, softer and especially airy and pleasant in high heat.

The ManyMonths ECO Original Summer Hat fabric was lab tested in a blue colour and

exceeded the UPF 50+ rating (which is the highest possible and means a

protection of more than 98%). The lighter woven hemp/organic cotton was

lab tested in a red colour and got a UPF 22+ rating, i. e. it blocked 96% of UVB-rays and 95% of UVA-rays. This is natural UV-protection - we don't add any UV-protection chemicals to the ManyMonths ECO Hempies Summer Hats.

Why choose a protective hat for your child?

Commonly, children receive 50% of the entire life-term UV dose during childhood. The child's sensitive skin burns more easily than the skin of adults. Depending on skin type, already 5-40 minutes in the sun can cause sunburns. Our skin never forgets the childhood burns and it may later even lead to skin cancer. The children themselves cannot ensure adequate protection, it has to be the adult’s task.

Why hemp fabric for a summer hat?

The hemp fibre is porous, which means that it breathes very well and feels wonderfully cool in the summer. Still, it is considered to be about ten times stronger than cotton and thus tends to be much more durable in use. Hemp clothing softens perfectly in use and these garments quickly become favourites we don’t want to take off at all.

The hemp crop doesn’t need herbicides, pesticides, fungicides, or even fertilizers to grow, so its cultivation is environmentally friendly and the clothing naturally safe to use.

Why choose a wide-brimmed hat?

All ManyMonths summer hats have particularly wide brims, which is essential for sun protection. Wearing a hat provides instant shade, which will further increase the total sun protection. A sun hat with a wide brim

provides sun protection for the nose, back of the neck, the cheek and chin. Our children's eyes are also vulnerable. A summer hat with a wide brim helps to shield the eyes as well - we recommend combining it with Ki ET LA sunglasses to get the best combo.  The ManyMonths Travel and Floppy Hats have the widest brims and they are also made of double fabric.
